December 2010: Revised Ethos, Ramblings, Nonsense coming soon.

January 2010: I am compelled to start writing because I’ve been stockpiling thoughts, musings, blurbs, emotions, struggles, inspirations, for months now, maybe even years. Now, it’s time to share, it’s time to be present, awake and see what can happen. Primarily motivating this blog is my quest to live mindfully and my exploration of veganism. There will be times I will wax philosophical, sound new agey and aim for dead honest introspection. Let’s get something straight, though, I drink bourbon and love the madness of New York City, live for rock and roll and crave road trips. I can be a little loud, drink too much, impulsive and erratic. I am a writer and an academic. I am excited about who I am but even more excited about who I can be. My goal is to fuse these two sides of myself. I can’t say I’ll eschew bacon cheese burgers forever, or never have another slice of cheesy pizza or remain zen during my rush hour commute. I do not believe in absolutes or extremes. I am who I am, and I want to make that person my truest self. And, right now, these avenues make the most sense and feel the most organic.
.
Feeling out of balance for years now, this written and photographic exploration is a journey. I seek mindfulness and I seek harmony, with myself, with the world, with the universe. If perhaps we can truly live mindfully and celebrate the mind-body connection, harnessing our breath and visualizing peace, then perhaps we can live this life we have with the utmost compassion, vitality and joy, thereby affecting the people and community around us.
.
So, what you’ll find here? I adore graffiti and public art, and will post at random photographs I have taken over the years and new gems yet to be found. I’ve applied to graduate schools for Fall 2010 admission, when I hope to begin working on a Ph.D. in literature, so you’ll hear about my academic journeys. New York is my first love, enough said. It will indubitably filter into posts. And, of course, there will mainly be random musings about trying to return to center and my explorations of mindfulness, yoga and veganism (this is a brand new one for me). I feel lighter already and am so excited about this. Welcome, sláinte and namaste.
